About 500 Bangkok residents gathered in Ratchaprasong to join a countdown for a lights out campaign undertaken by the city administration while billboards along the shopping district were dimmed for 15 minutes.
Large television screens showed street lights in Chinatown, Ratchadamnoen, New Phetchaburi and Khao San roads, being turned off at 7pm. The campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the need to combat global warming.
